8 weeks and a bit

The bleeding was due to a little bit of placenta detaching. It's something to watch, according to Dr J, and I was treated to extra shots of PIO. The placenta that detached was from the weaker baby so Dr J did say that this might be a sign of things to come. Or not. I go back on Thursday. And Saturday if there is any more bleeding.

The depression is definitely lifting and my shrink thinks it was withdrawal from pain meds mixed with all the stress, that sent me into a tailspin. I have to see her more frequently until she is certain I am ok. My psychopharmacologist is on Wednesday and she has had twins so I hoping to get some more sage advice. (The difference between the two practitioner's is one is a medical doctor that does psychology and the other is psychologist and therefore can't prescribe).

I have to say, it is nice to be back at work. I am sick of the sight of my apartment. I'm tired and cranky but that is normal for me so no-ones suspects anything! I do find it weird not to yell for a coffee or run out to *$ every hour! Oh a cappuccino. With extra foam. ohhhhhhh.

I'm not panicky about baby b. Since we have never really got this far before I am grateful for every day I have them. I know there are risks and I know my luck, so I am kinda resigned to something happening but I am trying to find peace with everything that is and might happen. Its the only way to enjoy this pregnancy. And not get locked up in a mental ward!

  1. Congratulations on making it to week 8. Keep up the slow and steady. Bleeding is always very scary, but I'm so glad Dr. J is on the case and putting your mind at ease. When you get the big cravings for a hot drink and miss coffee and tea so much, here is a concoction I found I really like. Go to *$ or similar, order hot steamed milk with foam and add a pump of caramel or vanilla or honey. If they have actual caramel sauce, even better -- it's not too bad. Then sprinkle the top with some fresh nutmeg. Mmmmmmmmmmm. I actually found that I lost my preference for the taste of coffee (pregnancy tongue?) and the smell of wine in the 1st trimester was enough to make me leave the room. Wacky how nature works, huh?

  2. I second the drink suggestion from IF optimist. I tried milk and honey, milk and caramel and also I was told that the vanilla cremes are good. I also had their cinnamon apple spice drink with a "go easy on the sweet stuff" because it gets really sickly sweet if you put all the caramel sauce in it. I also took apple cider to work with me and heated it up in the microwave and put a stick of cinnamon in it. All on the TWW when I was being super diligent.
    I am glad you are feeling less depressed and that you are relieved to be back at work and with some other walls to stare at.
    really hoping that the babies do good. Doctor J sounds completely on top of everything and I'm glad for that. Hoping that things calm down a bit for you:)

  4. Detaching placenta sounds a bit scary, so I'm glad they've got you under close observation. The S drinks sound great! Wish I'd thought of that months ago! So I'll just be over here holding my breath and waiting to hear that everything is okay.

  5. I have a big mug full of warm milk and honey with a little cinnamon every morning. I try to pretend it is a latte. But it helps me get a milk serving in and I don't really like milk.
