Rocker /Glider

We would like to buy some sort of 'soothing' chair. There are tons of gliding/rocking chairs out there. For obvios reasons we would prefer a pre-assembled one (do they do that here?).
Any ideas? What did you chose?

  1. Dutalier is the best quality. My opinion, but most others don't sit well and don't have enough cushion. The "action" on a dutalier is like no other. You really need to sit in some to know the difference and where your arms will sit while holding the noodles. My dutalier came put together, but we did not have it shipped. We picked it up a BRU. Took about 3 weeks to come in.

  2. I would love to know the answer too - I just know they are expensive and I shudder to think about spending the money!
They are ten a penny on Craigs list but with the bed bug crisis I am not biting!

  3. Pottery Barn Kids & Land Of Nod (Crate & Barrel) make some very attractive upholstered rockers and gliders. Personally, I like the look better than the traditional gliders. For one thing, they age well from nusery to big kid to beyond. BRU has a less expensive version. It was comfy to sit in, but I had concerns about how it would hold up over time ... it didn't look durable.

  4. Hi EB -- I have no advice on the glider/rocker except to GET ONE. We didn't and when Liam was in the hospital at about 18 months, there was one in the recovery room and it was the best thing ever. I haven't been commenting anywhere much or posting lately, but I read almost every day and love to hear how you're settling in with the babies. Such a lovely (difficult, tiring), lovely time.

  5. We bought a less expensive one (about $200) that we had to put together (Stork Craft in Oak/Sage that you can see on Amazon). I use it every day and I'm sure you've seen it in some of the pictures I've posted of my baby. Whichever type you choose, here are my general observations: if you buy the ottoman, make sure you really want it. Mine came with the ottoman, but it's been in a closet since day one. I don't need and it found it to be unnecessary. Also, a friend with toddlers said they put theirs in the garage once the kids were crawling because a baby will surely put his fingers in the moving/gliding parts and get pinched. I hadn't thought of that but realize it's probably true. Some models have a locking feature, likely for that reason.

    Good luck with your choice!

  6. I got a rocking/ reclining club chair at Banies R Us online and it was assembled. It runs mid 300s and gas several color choices and is very comfy. I also like that it reclines, great for cuddlying
