Baby blues

I think I got 'em again. I have started back at work and that doesn't help. Its not the kids - I love' em to pieces. Our savings are close to gone which sends me into fits of panic. Things between DH and I are strained. Its the usual - I don't feel supported or that he is doing enough and he feels totally pressured. Sound familiar?

I am also gaining weight not losing it even tho I am pumping like a bloody oil rig!

Oh I really need to shake this funk. Maybe I should go back up on my meds but is that really the answer?

  1. I wholeheartedly believe that if you have meds that relieve or improve your symptoms of depression or anxiety you should, absolutely, take them. This lower dose may not be sufficient at this time.

I also recommend a marriage therapist, but you probably already know that. The meds are only going to put you in balance but they will not address the root cause of strife at home. Why go it alone?

  3. Be gentle with yourself right now - you JUST GAVE BIRTH!!! TO TWINS!!! Holy cow woman, it's amazing you can get out of bed. So if your therapist approves I would totally up the meds for a while. Such a huge upheaval in your life, and you have just thrown yourself another loop now that you're back at work! You think it will be like it used to be, but mostly it isn't. Everything is different than it was - but you get to cuddle babies at the end of the day!

  4. This is not medical advice, just my opinion, medication, can really help. Why not? Why not give yourself every advantage? Why suffer more than you have to? I think I get what you are implying, and no, meds don't fix marriage tension, and life stressors, but meds can make it easier to deal with them in the meantime. And postpartum is a vulnerable time. Why risk getting more depressed and not being able to cope well? I would see my doc if I were you.
    Good luck.

  6. I just increased mine after trying to tough it out. I hope it helps. You have accomplished such a lot - try to give yourself some slack - with everything. ((( hugs )))

  7. I tried to tough it out also - and I had to get back on the meds. It is SO very hard being a new mom (especially to twins) and I just knew I had to go back on them. Things are so much better now. Don't force yourself to stay off the meds if you really need them.
